May 18, 2025 : National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman has demanded proof in response to allegations of holding foreign citizenship. The accusation was made by Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, who referred to Rahman as a “foreign citizen.”
In a statement to BSS on Sunday (May 18), Rahman said, “The burden of proving this allegation lies with the accuser, and if necessary, it must be substantiated in court. As a Bangladeshi citizen, I am fully prepared to exercise my rights.”
During an event in Khulna on Saturday, Salahuddin Ahmed addressed the head of government, stating, “You have appointed a foreign citizen as the National Security Adviser. Remove him. Either he resigns, or you must sack him.” He further alleged, “This citizen is conspiring to create instability in Bangladesh. We will not allow that to happen.”
The allegations have sparked a fresh political controversy, intensifying discussions around Khalilur Rahman’s position.
