Lalmonirhat, May 30, 2025: Sarjis Alam, Chief Organizer (Northern Region) of the National Citizens Party (NCP), asserted that there will be no compromise with India concerning Bangladesh’s sovereignty. He made these remarks as the chief guest at a public gathering organized by the NCP at Torangi Mor in Patgram Upazila, Lalmonirhat, on Thursday (May 29).
Sarjis alleged, “India is conspiring against Bangladesh by sending agents through border push-ins. By providing shelter to Sheikh Hasina, who was ousted through a mass uprising of students and citizens, India has strained relations with Bangladesh. As long as she remains there, normal relations cannot be restored.” He called for unity among the people on this issue.
Pointing to the long-standing neglect of the northern region, he said, “Lalmonirhat is the most disadvantaged area in the country. The NCP will commence its activities from here.” He demanded a direct train service from Burimari to Dhaka, the discontinuation of bomb machines used in stone quarrying in Patgram, and an end to extortion at the Burimari land port.
He further highlighted, “The deplorable condition of roads, the lack of doctors in health complexes, and the need for adequate accommodations for them must be addressed.” Urging voters to choose honest candidates regardless of party affiliation, he said, “Vote for those who stand by you and listen without expecting money.”
Sarjis clarified, “I am not here to seek votes for the NCP. I am here to urge you to exercise your voting rights in favor of good individuals, regardless of party.” The gathering was presided over by Rasel Mahmud, an NCP organizer for the northern region, with district and upazila branch leaders and activists in attendance.
