Dhaka, 24.May, 2025 : In a targeted operation in Dhaka’s Shahjahanpur area, the Cyber and Special Crime (North) Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch (DB) arrested a notorious drug trafficker, Mashiur Rahman (42), with 28,000 yaba pills. The arrest took place on Friday (May 23) at around 9:45 PM under the Bot-tola area of Kamalapur Outer Circular Road.
According to DMP’s Media and Public Relations Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman, acting on a tip-off, a specialized team from DB’s Financial Crime Investigation unit learned that several drug traffickers were stationed at the Bot-tola area of Shahjahanpur to buy and sell illegal narcotics. Upon arriving at the scene, the team apprehended Mashiur Rahman as he attempted to flee upon noticing the police presence. A search led to the recovery of 28,000 yaba pills in his possession.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that Mashiur is a professional drug trafficker. He confessed to procuring the yaba pills from an individual named Idris in Cox’s Bazar, intending to sell them to a drug dealer named Ashraf in Ishwardi, Pabna.
A case has been filed against Mashiur under the Narcotics Control Act at Shahjahanpur Police Station, and legal proceedings are underway.
