Police Attacked in Chattogram During Operation, OC Injured

Chattogram, 18 May 2025 : In Chattogram’s Karnaphuli Upazila, a police team was attacked while heading for a special operation, leaving multiple officers injured, including the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Karnaphuli Police Station, Muhammad Sharif, and the In-Charge of Shikalbaha Police Outpost, SI Mizanur Rahman. The incident occurred late on Saturday (17 May) in the Jamal Para area of Shikalbaha College Bazar.

According to police and local sources, a group of miscreants was attempting to illegally occupy land in the College Bazar area under the cover of night. As a police team passed through the area en route to a special operation, the miscreants suddenly hurled bricks and stones at them. SI Mizanur Rahman sustained injuries to his chest, while OC Muhammad Sharif and several other police personnel were also hurt.
Locals allege that the attack was led by a youth named Titu, who is reportedly involved in land grabbing while using the names of BNP and its youth wing, Jubo Dal. He is said to have orchestrated the assault on the police.
Injured SI Mizanur Rahman stated, “While heading for the operation, miscreants attacked us from behind with bricks and stones. I was hit in the chest, and OC sir was also injured. After receiving treatment, I have returned home.”
OC Muhammad Sharif said, “On our way to the operation, we encountered a group of miscreants engaged in vandalism and encirclement. When we asked for the reason, they immediately threw bricks and stones at us. Legal action will be taken regarding this incident.”
