Storm Warning Issued for Dhaka and 8 Other Districts with Winds Up to 80 km/h

Dhaka May 29, 2025 : The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a warning of storms and thundershowers with wind speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour in Dhaka and eight other districts.

According to a weather bulletin issued on Thursday (May 29) for inland river ports, signed by meteorologist Afroza Sultana, temporary gusty winds accompanied by thundershowers are expected to sweep through Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, and Chattogram. The winds, blowing from the west/northwest direction, may reach speeds of 60 to 80 km/h.
River ports in these areas have been instructed to display Naval Warning Signal No. 2.
Additionally, a 120-hour weather forecast issued on Wednesday (May 28) evening stated that over the next 24 hours, most parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience temporary gusty winds with light to moderate rain or thundershowers. Isolated areas across the country may also see moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall. Daytime temperatures are expected to decrease by 1-2°C, with a slight drop in nighttime temperatures.
