Dinajpur, June 04, 2025: A significant uproar has emerged in Dinajpur after an organization named ‘Warriors of July’ submitted applications to the Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) of the district’s 13 upazilas, requesting financial assistance for Eid celebrations. The application letters, which have gone viral on social media, have sparked widespread discussion and criticism.
The applications, signed and sealed by the organization’s Dinajpur district branch convener Md. Farhad Hossain and member-secretary Md. Mostafa Shakil, stated, “We, the July warriors of Dinajpur Sadar Upazila, humbly request financial assistance to celebrate Eid joyfully.” Similar applications were submitted to other upazilas in the district.
Dinajpur Sadar Upazila UNO Md. Borhan Uddin confirmed receiving the application on Sunday but clarified, “The application was submitted, but I have no authority to provide such grants. They have not contacted me, and I have not reached out to them either.”
The issue came to the attention of the organization’s central committee, which issued a notice demanding an explanation from the Dinajpur representatives within three working days, warning of organizational action if they fail to comply. In a Facebook post, the central committee’s convener, Abu Bakar Siddique, stated that no such instructions were given to the district branches.
Ekramul Haque Abir, convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Dinajpur, clarified, “The Dinajpur district committee of Warriors of July has been suspended. They made the application by mistake and have admitted their error. The application is not acceptable.”
Khansama Upazila UNO Kamruzzaman Sarker noted, “We have seen the issue on Facebook. If an official letter is received, we will verify and take necessary action.” Meanwhile, Azizur Rahman, a member of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Khansama, accused, “Some individuals under the banner of Warriors of July are engaging in extortion, tarnishing the image of the movement. We strongly condemn this.”
The incident has triggered widespread debate locally, raising questions about the transparency of the organization’s activities.
