Pakistan to Play Women’s World Cup Matches in Sri Lanka Despite India Hosting

Sports Desk : 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, hosted by India, will see Pakistan playing their matches in Colombo, Sri Lanka, due to ongoing diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made this decision to ensure the tournament, scheduled from September 30 to November 2, proceeds smoothly.

While matches will be held in Bengaluru, Guwahati, Indore, and Visakhapatnam in India, Pakistan’s seven group-stage matches, including high-profile clashes against India and England, will take place in Colombo. If Pakistan qualifies for the semi-finals or final, those games will also be held in Colombo.

India will kick off their campaign with the opening match in Bengaluru. If Pakistan does not reach the final, the title clash will be hosted in Bengaluru. The tournament features eight teams, but the ICC has yet to release the full schedule. Concerns remain about potential rain disruptions in Colombo, as October marks the monsoon season in Sri Lanka.
Bilateral cricket ties between India and Pakistan have been suspended for years, with the teams only facing each other in ICC global events. In 2023, Pakistan played in India for the Men’s ODI World Cup, but India opted out of traveling to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy earlier this year, playing their matches in Dubai, a neutral venue, where they won the title.
