Dhaka, 08 June, 2025 : Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the interim government, will embark on a four-day official visit to the United Kingdom on Monday, June 9. This marks his first visit to a European country since assuming office. During the visit, Dr. Yunus will receive the prestigious King Charles Harmony Award 2025 and hold bilateral meetings with King Charles III and Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique noted that the UK is Bangladesh’s second-largest trading partner and holds significant political importance. The visit is expected to strengthen trade ties, particularly in the context of post-Brexit opportunities, including securing GSP benefits. The trip is also seen as a chance to further enhance Dr. Yunus’s positive global image.
Accompanying Dr. Yunus will be Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur and Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman Dr. Abdul Momen. He is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on June 14.
