A cocktail bomb explosion occurred outside the temporary political office of the National Citizen’s Party (NCP) in Dhaka’s Banglamotor area. The incident took place on Monday (June 23, 2025) around 10:30 PM. At the time of the explosion, NCP’s member secretary, Akhtar Hossain, was present outside the office. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Saleh Uddin Sifat, NCP’s joint member secretary (office), confirmed the incident, stating, “Some unidentified individuals detonated a cocktail bomb in front of our office. Our member secretary, Akhtar Hossain, was standing there at the time. We demand that law enforcement authorities identify and arrest the perpetrators within the next 24 hours.”
Previously, on Sunday (June 22), another cocktail bomb explosion took place in the same area near a traffic police box at Banglamotor intersection around 5:30 PM. Eyewitnesses reported that the bomb was thrown from a moving vehicle. No injuries were reported in that incident either.
Law enforcement agencies have initiated an investigation into the incident, but no arrests or identifications have been made so far. NCP leaders have claimed the attack was deliberate and have called for swift justice.
