Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, has been cleared of all waste from Eid-ul-Adha in less than 12 hours, according to Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Adviser for Local Government. The massive cleanliness drive was successfully executed through the coordinated efforts of Dhaka North and South City Corporations.
In a post on his verified Facebook page on Saturday (7 June) night, Asif Mahmud stated, “A clean city is not just a goal; it is a daily responsibility.” He described the achievement as a testament to the efficiency, dedication, and timely initiatives of the local government.
Highlighting the collective effort, he noted that the success was made possible by the sense of responsibility among city residents and the tireless work of sanitation workers. “Those whose efforts have made this city clean are our silent heroes. Their work is the face of the city,” he remarked. Expressing gratitude and respect, he referred to the sanitation workers as the “true heroes of Eid-ul-Adha.”
Earlier on Saturday afternoon, Asif Mahmud, who also serves as the Adviser for Youth and Sports, inaugurated the waste management program in Dhaka’s Kalabagan area. At the event, he assured that all waste from the Eid celebrations would be removed by midnight, ensuring that the festivities would not be disrupted by waste-related issues.
Asif Mahmud further revealed that the cleanliness campaigns were successfully carried out not only in Dhaka but across all city corporations in the country. He emphasized that this accomplishment reflects the local government’s efficiency, commitment, and dedication to public welfare.
