Dhaka, June 27, 2025: Police have arrested a drug trafficker named Md. Joynal Abedin (36) with 4,000 yaba pills in the Yatrabari area of the capital. The arrest was made during an operation conducted by a team from the Detective Branch (DB) of Gulshan Division in the Matuail area under Yatrabari Police Station on Friday morning.
Confirming the matter, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, said the operation was carried out based on confidential information. The information indicated that an individual was stationed with a large quantity of yaba near the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, adjacent to Quality Timber and Sawmill in Matuail. Following the tip-off, the DB team conducted a raid and apprehended Joynal Abedin, recovering 4,000 yaba pills from his possession.
DC Rahman further stated that Joynal Abedin has been involved in collecting and supplying yaba across various areas of Dhaka, including Yatrabari, for a long time. Legal action has been initiated against the suspect.
