Iran’s IRGC Intelligence Chief Killed in Israeli Airstrike in Tehran

Tehran, June 16, 2025: Brigadier General Mohammad Kazemi, the head of the intelligence unit of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Tehran on Sunday, Iranian state media confirmed. The attack also claimed the lives of Kazemi’s deputy, Hasan Mohaqqiq, and another senior intelligence officer, Mohsen Bagheri.

According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency and other state media outlets, the Israeli airstrike targeted a location in the Iranian capital, resulting in the deaths of the three IRGC officials. The attack marks a significant escalation in tensions between Israel and Iran.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the operation in an interview with Fox News, stating, “We got their chief intelligence officer and his assistant in Tehran.”
The incident has heightened concerns about further escalation in the region, with Tehran officially acknowledging the deaths and attributing the attack to Israel. No further details on the circumstances of the strike or Iran’s potential response were provided by Iranian authorities at the time of reporting.
