The Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) in Bangladesh has exposed a syndicate of brokers and illegal agents orchestrating an artificial crisis in the visa application process. Following complaints, authorities arrested the key figure, Badrul Alam, owner of ‘Trip Air,’ a travel agency, during a raid.
In a press release, IVAC authorities revealed that Badrul had been manipulating the online appointment system for a long time, creating artificial congestion to hinder visa applications for genuine seekers. This caused severe difficulties, compelling many to turn to his network of associates. Exploiting this, Badrul’s accomplice brokers and agents, spread across the country, extorted excessive fees from visa applicants.
IVAC recently received verbal and written complaints about the syndicate. After notifying the police, Badrul was apprehended in the Bhattara area. He faces charges of cybercrime, corruption, and data manipulation.
The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has clarified that no agents or brokers are required to obtain an Indian visa. This has been communicated through the official website, social media, and posters at visa centres. The High Commission urged applicants to avoid fraudulent syndicates and apply through transparent, legal channels.
