The United States and the United Kingdom have jointly declared that Iran must never be allowed to develop or acquire nuclear weapons. According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), this position was confirmed following a meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries.
The agreement was reached during discussions between UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Lammy described the current situation in the Middle East as “highly precarious” and stressed that the next two weeks are critical for finding a long-term diplomatic solution to Iran’s nuclear issue. “We have a two-week window to pursue a diplomatic resolution,” he added.
A spokesperson for Rubio stated that both ministers agreed Iran must not be permitted to develop or acquire nuclear weapons under any circumstances.
The BBC reported that US President Donald Trump will decide within the next two weeks whether the United States will engage in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. In a White House press briefing, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt quoted Trump as saying, “Negotiations with Iran may or may not take place. I will decide within the next two weeks whether to pursue military action.”
This unified stance by the US and UK is viewed as a strategic effort to pressure Iran into abandoning its nuclear ambitions through diplomatic negotiations
