Brazil Crushes Uruguay to Reach Copa América Femenina Final

Brazil has secured a spot in the Copa América Femenina final for the tenth consecutive time, overpowering Uruguay with a commanding 5-1 victory in the semifinal on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. The record champions, who have won the tournament eight out of nine times, are now one step away from claiming their ninth title. Their only loss in the tournament’s history was to Argentina in 2006.

This decisive win not only ensures Brazil’s place in the final but also secures their qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics women’s football tournament. Brazil dominated early, scoring three goals in the first half. Amanda Gutierrez opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a header from Marta’s cross. Two minutes later, Gio Garbelini doubled the lead. In the 26th minute, Marta herself converted a penalty to make it 3-0, a scoreline that held until halftime. Uruguay managed a response in the sixth minute of the second half through an own goal by Brazil’s Isa during a corner clearance. However, Uruguay’s hopes faded when Yamila Mariana received a red card in the 58th minute, reducing them to ten players. Brazil capitalized, adding two more goals to seal the victory.
