China Proposes Advanced Drone Technology Transfer to Boost Bangladesh’s Agriculture

On July 30, 2025, Yao Wen, China’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, held a productive meeting with Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.), Adviser for Agriculture and Home Affairs, at the Secretariat in Dhaka. The Chinese envoy expressed China’s strong interest in providing state-of-the-art drone technology to enhance Bangladesh’s agricultural sector.

The discussions centered on deepening bilateral ties through agricultural product exports, technology sharing, and knowledge exchange. Welcoming the Ambassador, the Adviser highlighted the longstanding partnership between Bangladesh and China, noting their five-decade-long diplomatic relationship. He expressed confidence that this collaboration would grow stronger in the years ahead.

The Adviser extended gratitude to China for importing Bangladeshi mangoes this season and encouraged the import of jackfruits and aromatic rice in the upcoming season. He also sought China’s assistance in modernizing Bangladesh’s agriculture through mechanized technology transfers, establishing advanced cold storage systems, and offering training programs for farmers and agricultural stakeholders. Ambassador Yao Wen reiterated China’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s agricultural development. He emphasized China’s readiness to collaborate on initiatives such as setting up fertilizer factories, promoting food safety, and transferring cutting-edge drone technology to improve farming efficiency and productivity.
