Gopalganj, July 16, 2025: Nahid Islam, the convener of the National Citizen’s Party (NCP), has urged the people of Gopalganj to ensure that the district does not become a sanctuary for Mujibists. Speaking at a rally organized by the NCP at the municipal park in Gopalganj on Wednesday, July 16, he emphasized the need to protect the district and the nation to build a new Bangladesh.
Addressing the gathering, Nahid Islam said, “Those who support the people’s uprising and stand for a new Bangladesh must take responsibility. Gopalganj must not become a safe haven for Mujibists. If the police and administration fail to protect you, it is our duty to safeguard Gopalganj and Bangladesh.”
He noted that the NCP’s month-long July march program faced obstructions, stating, “If there had been no obstacles today, the people of Gopalganj would have turned this place into a sea of humanity. We are not here to change Gopalganj’s name but to establish peace and fulfill our commitment to a new Bangladesh.”
Nahid Islam further remarked, “We came to Gopalganj today for the July march to build a future Bangladesh and to secure the rights of Gopalganj’s residents. Mujibists tried to obstruct us today, but as we said during the July uprising, ‘If obstacles arise, there will be a fight, and we will win.’ They obstructed us again today, but we will respond, and we will win this fight.”
He called on those supporting the people’s uprising to take responsibility, reiterating, “Gopalganj must not become a refuge for Mujibists. If the administration fails, it is our duty to protect Gopalganj and Bangladesh.”
Addressing the residents, Nahid Islam said, “There will be no discrimination in the egalitarian Bangladesh represented by Gopalganj. Mujibists have tarnished the Liberation War and Gopalganj. We will reclaim Gopalganj. Those who created obstacles today will face justice swiftly. If justice is not served, we will return and liberate Gopalganj from the Mujibists ourselves.”
Pledging solidarity with the people of Gopalganj, he added, “We will bury Mujibism and the 1972 Constitution to build a democratic Bangladesh. This is our promise to you today. On this day, six of our comrades, including Abu Saeed and Wasim, were martyred. We swear by their blood that we will never allow Mujibists to rise again in Bangladesh.”
