A shocking video of a man being shot dead in Dhaka’s Adabor area has gone viral on social media. The footage shows a man wearing a white T-shirt and carrying a black bag walking with another individual. Suddenly, he pulls a pistol from his bag and shoots a man nearby, who collapses instantly.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (July 16, 2025) around 7:30 pm in front of the Baitul Mamur Jame Mosque in Nobodoy Housing Society, Adabor. Bystanders immediately apprehended the shooter, identified as Sajeeb (32), and his brother Rubel (35), beating them before handing them over to the police.
According to Kabir Hossain, as reported to Prothom Alo, Ibrahim lived with his wife and three-year-old son in a rented apartment in Nobodoy Housing. The incident stemmed from a dispute involving their nephew, Sujan Shikdar, who worked at Sajeeb’s egg shop in the kacha bazaar near Road No. 16 in Adabor. A few days earlier, some eggs were damaged while Sujan was transporting them, leading Sajeeb to assault him. To resolve the issue, Ibrahim and his relatives attended an arbitration meeting near the Baitul Mamur Mosque. During the meeting, Sajeeb slapped Ibrahim, sparking a physical altercation. As the situation escalated, Sajeeb pulled a pistol from his bag and shot Ibrahim at close range after an initial misfire.
Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division, Md. Ibne Mizan, confirmed that locals detained and beat Sajeeb and Rubel before police took them into custody. The brothers were admitted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for treatment. Police recovered a foreign pistol with three rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle from their possession.
