Murder in Tongi Over Extramarital Affair, Main Accused Arrested
The main accused, Sabbir Ahmed, has been arrested in connection with the murder of Kamrul Islam (35), who was stabbed to death in Tongi, Gazipur, due to an extramarital affair.On Thursday (July 17) at dawn, Sabbir Ahmed (32) was arrested from the Panchbibi border area in Joypurhat, as confirmed by Md. Kamal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tongi East Police Station. Earlier, on Monday (July 14) night, Kamrul was stabbed and admitted to a hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Kamrul’s brother, Md. Kamal Uddin, filed a murder case at Tongi East Police Station, naming Sabbir Ahmed as the prime accused. During the investigation, evidence of involvement led to the arrest of Sabbir’s wife, Sultana, as well. Police reported that despite a familial relationship between Kamrul and Sabbir, tensions arose recently over Sultana. On Monday night, Kamrul was attacked unexpectedly while walking on the road. The arrested individuals have been sent to court, and the police stated that the investigation is ongoing.
