Dhaka, July 28, 2025 – Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, reaffirmed his government’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism, declaring that no terrorist group will be allowed to operate in Bangladesh.

During a meeting at the state guesthouse Yamuna on Monday afternoon, Dr. Yunus emphasized, “The fight against terrorism is our top priority. Our stance on terrorism is zero tolerance. We will eradicate terrorists from our soil with all our strength.”

The 40-minute meeting with the United States Chargé d’Affaires in Dhaka, Tracy Ann Jacobson, covered various issues of mutual interest, including ongoing tariff discussions between Bangladesh and the United States.

Chargé d’Affaires Jacobson reiterated her government’s support for Bangladesh’s reform efforts and democratic transition, which is expected to culminate in a national election early next year.

Dr. Yunus also highlighted the progress of a commission working to build national consensus, aiming to foster unity among political parties on key reform issues. He expressed confidence in the commission’s work, stating, “I believe the commission is doing excellent work. Under the leadership of Professor Ali Riaz, the members are working tirelessly.”
