No Tolerance for Delays on July Manifesto: Nahid Islam

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the July uprising, Nahid Islam, the convener of the National Citizens Party (NCP), issued a stern warning that no delays or excuses regarding the July Manifesto and Charter will be tolerated. He made these remarks after visiting the grave of martyr Abu Sayeed in Pirganj, Rangpur, on Tuesday (July 1, 2025).

Nahid Islam stated that the NCP’s ‘July March for Nation-Building’ initiative aims to foster the efforts needed to rebuild the nation. Through this program, the NCP will engage with people to highlight the dreams of Abu Sayeed and the July uprising. “Abu Sayeed’s courageous struggle inspires us. The way he stood fearlessly against police bullets is our guiding light,” he said.

He further emphasized, “We will ensure the July Manifesto and Charter are realized. We will reach every corner of Bangladesh and inspire people to rise again.” Nahid noted that the sacrifices of Abu Sayeed, Wasim, Mugdho, and other martyrs, along with the injured fighters, will forever be remembered with respect by the people of Bangladesh. Nahid stressed the need for justice, reforms, and the drafting of a new constitution through a constituent assembly to build a new Bangladesh. He warned, “Those who think the struggle on the streets is over are mistaken. We will mobilize students, youth, workers, and the masses to return to the streets and achieve the July Manifesto and Charter.”
During the event, NCP’s member secretary Akhtar Hossain stated, “Fundamental reforms must be implemented to build a truly new Bangladesh. The trials for the mass killings must be completed, and a new constitution must be drafted through the election of a constituent assembly.”
