Political Leaders Express Grief Over Loss of Lives in Milestone College Plane Crash

A Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed in Uttara, Dhaka, with the Fire Service reporting that the plane struck the roof of the canteen at Milestone College, based on preliminary information. Rescue operations are underway at the site. The tragic incident, which caused multiple casualties, has prompted leaders from various political parties, including BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, National Citizens Party (NCP), Islami Andolan Bangladesh, and Nezami Islam, to express deep sorrow.

On Monday, July 21, 2025, a meeting of political parties with the National Consensus Commission at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka was postponed immediately after the crash was reported. Following this, party leaders issued condolence messages.

BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed said, “The aircraft crashed onto Milestone School, where students and parents were present. We consider those who lost their lives in this tragedy as martyrs.” Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Rafiqul Islam Khan stated, “We pray for the departed souls and extend our condolences to their families.” NCP Senior Joint Convener Ariful Islam Adib remarked, “It is the government’s responsibility to ensure proper treatment for the injured and provide adequate support to the families of the deceased. We demand a review of training activities involving fighter jets in densely populated areas.” The leaders prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased and called for necessary measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
