Pregnant Woman Killed in Dhaka Road Accident After Being Hit by Bus

In a tragic incident on Thursday morning, a 26-year-old pregnant woman named Meherunnisa Jhumi was killed after being thrown off a motorcycle due to a collision with a bus on the Mayor Hanif Flyover in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area. Meherunnisa, who was eight months pregnant, was riding pillion with her husband, Musa Kalimullah, who was driving the motorcycle. Musa told *Prothom Alo* at Dhaka Medical College Hospital that he was taking his wife to Ad-Din Hospital in Moghbazar for a doctor’s visit. While on the Mayor Hanif Flyover, a bus from Manjil Paribahan hit their motorcycle from behind, causing both to be thrown off and injured. Meherunnisa was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where the attending doctor declared her dead, according to Inspector Mohammad Faruk of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp. He added that the body has been kept in the morgue, and the incident has been reported to the Wari Police Station. Musa sustained minor injuries and received primary treatment at the hospital. He stated that local residents detained the bus and handed it over to the police.

Musa, who runs a mobile phone parts business, resides in Muslim Nagar, Matuail. The couple has a four-year-old daughter.
