Teenage Girl Stabbed by Stalker in Bogura, Grandmother and Sister-in-Law Killed While Trying to Save Her

In a tragic incident in Bogura, two individuals were killed, and a teenage girl was critically injured after being stabbed by a young man identified as Saikat Hossain (19). The attack took place on Wednesday night around 8:30 PM in the Horighari area of Islam-pur, Ward No. 14, Bogura city. The victims, Laily Begum (65), wife of the late Abdul Kuddus, and Habiba Yasmin (21), wife of Parvez Hossain, were killed on the spot while attempting to protect the teenage girl, a Class 10 student from a local school.

According to police and local sources, Saikat had been harassing the teenage girl for a long time after she rejected his romantic advances. On the night of the incident, Saikat went to the girl’s home and attacked her with a knife. When her grandmother and sister-in-law intervened to protect her, Saikat stabbed them before fleeing the scene. He was apprehended by police shortly after the incident.

Hasan Basir, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bogura Sadar Police Station, confirmed Saikat’s arrest. The injured were rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Laily Begum and Habiba Yasmin dead. The hospital’s deputy director, Abdul Wadud, stated that both victims had multiple wounds from a sharp weapon. The teenage girl underwent surgery and remains in critical condition.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the morgue at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for autopsy. The incident has left the victims’ family in deep grief, with relatives mourning at their home.
