Tension in Gazipur as Banned Chhatra League Holds Motorcycle Rally to Disrupt NCP Program

On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, tension erupted in Gazipur as the banned organization Bangladesh Chhatra League held a motorcycle rally to obstruct a program organized by the National Citizen Party (NCP) at Rajbari Field. The rally was led by Sultan Md. Sirajul Islam, the president of the Gazipur district unit of the banned Chhatra League, with 15 to 20 helmet-wearing individuals participating in the demonstration in the Mawna area of Sreepur.

This incident has sparked tension among those who participated in the July mass uprising in Gazipur. Additionally, excitement arose last night over the slogan “Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu” written on the wall of the main post office on Rajbari Road, a central location in Gazipur city. Following this, law enforcement agencies have intensified patrols in the city.

Under the slogan “To build the nation and establish a new peaceful democratic Bangladesh,” the NCP announced a rally and a July march at Rajbari Field at around 4 PM on Tuesday. On Monday, the NCP held a press conference at the Gazipur Press Club to outline the details of this program. Advocate Abu Naser Khan, the chief organizer of the NCP’s central committee, presented the details during the press conference.
