Tourist Killed by Friend’s Gunshot While Traveling in Bandarban

A tourist was killed by a gunshot fired by one of his friends during a trip to Alikadam in Bandarban. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon in the remote Challetli area of Ward No. 9, Kuruk Pata Union, near the Myanmar border.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed, but it is known that he was a madrasa student from Shariatpur. Police have gone to the area to recover the body.

According to local sources and police, a group of five tourists from Dhaka traveled to the remote Sindhu area of Kuruk Pata Union via Alikadam on Saturday for sightseeing. On their way back, in the Challetli area, one of the tourists was handling a hunter’s gun belonging to the Mro community. Another tourist was taking photos with a mobile phone. During this time, the gun accidentally discharged, resulting in the death of one tourist on the spot.
Bandarban Police Superintendent Md. Shahidullah Kawsar told journalists that after receiving information about a body from a local public representative, police from Alikadam Thana were dispatched to the scene. Preliminary reports suggest the incident occurred among the group members themselves.
