The United States Embassy in Dhaka has issued a strict warning to visa applicants regarding fraudulent practices. The message was shared on Friday, July 18, through a post on the embassy’s verified Facebook page.
The post stated, “We’ve heard this story before. Consular officers are always aware of new techniques for visa fraud and the technology used to create fake documents. Concealing information or submitting fraudulent documents is a serious offense. This could result in a permanent ban from entering the United States and criminal charges.”
Earlier, on July 10, the embassy had announced that visa applicants are required to list all social media handles used in the past five years on the DS-160 visa application form. The post further clarified that applicants confirm the accuracy and truthfulness of all provided information by signing and submitting the form. Failure to disclose social media information could lead to visa denial and potential ineligibility for future visa applications.
