26 Awami League Leaders and Activists Arrested for Training Program

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has reported the arrest of 26 Awami League leaders and activists in connection with a training program held for party members from across the country at KB Convention Hall in Bashundhara, Dhaka, on July 8.

During a press conference at the DMP Media Center on Sunday, August 3, 2025, DMP Media Division’s Deputy Commissioner of Police Talebur Rahman shared this information.

Talebur Rahman stated, “A case has been filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Bhathara Police Station regarding the incident at KB Convention Hall. Efforts are underway to arrest the remaining individuals involved.” He further disclosed that in the last 24 hours, an additional 21 Awami League and affiliate organization leaders and activists were arrested on charges of planning subversive activities across the country. Talebur Rahman added, “The DMP has implemented adequate security measures around gatherings and rallies in the capital. Intelligence surveillance, including by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit and plainclothes officers, has been intensified.” The police official also affirmed that the DMP is on high alert to curb any form of disorder.
