BNP Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman called on young voters to cast their ballots for the party’s symbol, the sheaf of paddy, stating, “Let the first vote of youth be for the sheaf of paddy.”
Speaking at a national student rally organized by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal at Shahbagh in Dhaka on Sunday, August 3, he made this appeal to young voters.
Tariq Rahman noted that out of Bangladesh’s 130 million voters, approximately 40 million new voters have been added over the past one and a half decades. He said, “Even though you became voters, the fascist regime robbed you of your voting rights. The upcoming national election presents a significant opportunity to restore your lost voting rights. To build a self-reliant Bangladesh and implement BNP’s vision, I seek the support and cooperation of all, including the 30 million voters deprived of their voting rights over the past 15 years under the fugitive dictator’s regime.”
Addressing students and the younger generation, he added, “I have a call for the leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal, as well as students and youth across the country. Listen carefully to my appeal and spread it among the students and young voters nationwide. Here is my call: ‘Let the first vote of youth be for the sheaf of paddy.’”
