On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Malaysia’s Border Control and Security Agency (AKPS) detained 26 Bangladeshi nationals attempting to enter the country illegally through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA-1). The group arrived on two separate flights from Dhaka, according to a statement from the agency on Wednesday, August 6.
Upon arrival at the international arrivals gate, the group raised suspicions due to their activities, prompting AKPS to detain them immediately and transfer them to the agency’s operations office for further inspection. Preliminary investigations revealed that the group lacked valid reasons or documentation for entry under their travel visas, leading to their denial of entry into Malaysia.
The statement also highlighted that many individuals, including Bangladeshi nationals, attempt to enter Malaysia on travel visas in search of employment opportunities. To address this, Malaysia has intensified intelligence surveillance at airports and land borders to curb illegal immigration.
