Manama, August 21, 2025 – The Bangladesh U-23 national football team is set to take on Bahrain U-23 in their second friendly match on Friday as part of their preparations for the upcoming AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers. The team, after a day of rest, completed its fifth training session in Bahrain on Wednesday evening, focusing on rectifying errors from their previous encounter.
In a WhatsApp message on Thursday, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) stated that the coaching staff emphasized correcting mistakes from the first friendly match, which Bangladesh lost 1-0 to Bahrain on August 18 in a closed-door game. Despite the challenging hot weather, the players trained intensively for nearly 90 minutes, displaying strong determination and commitment.
Bangladesh U-23 goalkeeper Mohammad Asif, in a video message, said, “We worked on the mistakes we made in the last match. The team had a recovery session yesterday. We had a good training session today. Players worked on their game plan and mistakes. Everyone is fit and doing good, no niggles for anyone in the team.” Forward Pias Ahmed Nova added that the practice matches against Bahrain provide valuable experience, as they are against teams of a similar level to those they will face in the AFC Cup qualifiers in Vietnam.
Goalkeeping coach Masud Ahmed Uzzal noted, “In the training, the boys were explained what their mistakes were in the last match, and the coach is very happy after the training session.” The team is now gearing up for the second friendly, aiming to refine their strategies ahead of the qualifiers.
