Hamas Warns Israel’s Gaza Invasion Plan Will Fail

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has claimed that Israel’s planned operation to seize Gaza City will fail, just like its previous attempts. In a statement issued on Wednesday (August 20), Hamas stated that capturing Gaza will not be easy for Israel and will result in further harm to innocent civilians.

Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz approved a military operation named “Gideon’s Chariots 2” aimed at occupying Gaza City. The operation, focused on displacing civilians in southern Gaza to take control of the city, was condemned by Hamas as a violation of ongoing ceasefire and hostage exchange efforts by mediators.

In its statement, Hamas further accused the Israeli government of rejecting mediators’ proposals and pursuing a brutal war to destroy Gaza City and displace its people. They labeled Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a violator of agreements and accused him of showing disregard for the lives of hostages. Hamas urged mediators to exert maximum pressure on Israel to halt the ongoing “genocide” in Gaza. On August 8, Israel’s security cabinet approved the plan to capture Gaza City, located in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. Prior to the cabinet meeting, Netanyahu announced Israel’s intention to occupy the entire Gaza Strip. On Wednesday, Katz also approved the plan, and the operation began in the Gaza Strip on Thursday. According to the plan, approximately one million Palestinians will be displaced to the south, followed by a siege and occupation of the city.
