Chinese Foreign Minister Arrives in Afghanistan for Trilateral Summit

Kabul: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Kabul on Wednesday (August 20, 2025) to participate in a trilateral summit with the foreign ministers of Afghanistan and Pakistan. The visit follows his recent trip to India.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Yi will attend the "Sixth China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Trilateral Dialogue" during his stay in the Afghan capital.

China Daily reported that this is Wang Yi’s first visit to Afghanistan in over three years. Prior to this, on Monday, the Chinese Foreign Minister visited India, where he held discussions on border disputes with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. He also met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
