Health Worker’s TikTok Video in Operating Room Leads to Clinic’s Operation Theater Being Sealed

Narail, August 28, 2025 – A TikTok video recorded by a health worker inside the operating room of a private clinic in Lohagara Upazila, Narail, with a patient present, has gone viral on social media. Since Wednesday night, many users have shared the video on their Facebook profiles, sparking widespread criticism. Following the incident, the Upazila Health Department conducted a raid on Thursday morning and sealed the operating theater of the clinic.

Lohagara Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Abul Hasnat told Prothom Alo, “The video violated the patient’s privacy. As soon as the matter came to our attention, we took action. The clinic’s operation theater has been sealed, and further steps will be taken based on instructions from higher authorities.”

The private clinic, named ‘Pratyasha Clinic,’ is located at Ful Kajir Mor in Lohagara Upazila. The individual who recorded the TikTok video is Priya Begum, who works as a nurse’s assistant at the clinic. She has expressed regret over the incident. In the viral video, a patient is seen lying in the operating room with blood-stained cloth on their body and surgical equipment nearby. A woman dressed as a nurse, later identified as Priya Begum, is seen touching the patient’s body while recording the video, which is accompanied by music. The video’s spread on social media triggered intense criticism, with demands for action against the clinic authorities and the involved health worker. Minarul Islam, a social media user, wrote, “Firstly, she should be permanently banned from this profession. Secondly, legal action must be taken for violating the dignity of women. Thirdly, both she and the clinic owner should be brought to justice.” When contacted, Priya Begum admitted her mistake, saying, “I did something wrong. I won’t do it again. I have deleted the videos.” Mohammad Selim, the owner of Pratyasha Clinic, told Prothom Alo that the health worker joined the clinic two to three months ago. He expressed personal embarrassment over her actions and said he had little to comment on the matter. Abul Hasnat, the Health and Family Planning Officer, added, “It was their responsibility to protect the patient’s privacy. By making the video public, she has committed a criminal offense. The patient or their family can file a case against her if they choose.”
