New Delhi: India has successfully conducted a test of its nuclear-capable ballistic missile 'Agni-5,' the country’s Ministry of Defence announced on Wednesday (August 20, 2025). The test, carried out from the Integrated Test Range in Odisha, validated all operational and technical parameters, according to a statement from the ministry.
The intermediate-range ballistic missile, with a strike range of over 5,000 kilometers, is equipped with advanced guidance systems, enabling it to carry nuclear warheads with high precision. Its range covers nearly the entire Asian continent and parts of Europe.
India has already deployed the Agni series missiles, from Agni-1 to Agni-4, with ranges between 700 and 3,500 kilometers. Recently, the country also tested the nuclear-capable short-range ballistic missiles Prithvi-2 and Agni-1.
