Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has been discharged from the hospital after completing his treatment. He is now in much better health but requires rest.

On Tuesday (August 12), Dr. Shafiqur Rahman left United Hospital in Gulshan around 11:30 AM.

Prior to his discharge, Syed Abdullah Md. Taher, Naib-e-Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, stated, "The Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, has recovered. He is being discharged from the hospital today. An open-heart surgery is a major procedure, and recovery takes time. We will take him home now, where he will need to rest for another two weeks. He is expected to resume public activities three weeks from now. Please pray for him." Dr. Shahid Alam Chowdhury, a physician at United Hospital, said, "His surgery was performed on August 2. He was in the cardiac ICU from August 2 to 5. On August 5, his tubes were removed, and he was able to walk on his own. He was then shifted to a cabin, where he stayed until today (11:30 AM). His condition has been improving day by day, and we are very satisfied with his progress. We hope he will return to normal life within the next month." Earlier, on August 2, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman was admitted to the hospital for bypass surgery after five blockages were detected in his heart. On July 19, after participating in Jamaat-e-Islami’s national gathering at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman suddenly fell ill and was admitted to a local private hospital. Initial tests did not reveal any major complications, and doctors suspected he was suffering from dehydration. After two days of rest, he resumed party activities in Rangpur, Khulna, and Moulvibazar. However, he fell ill again and was admitted to the hospital on August 30, where tests confirmed the heart blockages.
