On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, a tragic shooting took place at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, USA, during a prayer service in the school’s chapel. The attack left at least two students dead and 17 others injured.
The assailant, identified as 23-year-old Robin Westman, used three firearms—a rifle, a shotgun, and a pistol—to fire multiple rounds inside the chapel. Westman’s body was later found in the school’s parking lot, with authorities suspecting the attacker died by suicide.
Court records reveal that Westman, who legally changed their name from Robert to Robin in 2020 to identify as a woman, had no prior criminal record and purchased the weapons legally. Police confirmed that Westman acted alone.
Prior to the attack, a YouTube channel under the name “Robin W” uploaded at least two videos. In a roughly 10-minute video, Westman displayed weapons, ammunition, and loaded magazines. The magazines bore disturbing inscriptions such as “Kill Donald Trump,” “Kill Trump Now,” “Bring Down Israel,” “Burn Israel,” “For the Children,” and “Where is Your God?” One weapon was clearly marked with the phrase “Nuke India.” In the video, Westman also wrote a letter to their family, expressing regret for the attack and holding a small pistol, saying, “This is for me. I’ll use it if necessary.”
A second video, approximately 20 minutes long, showcased two journals—one over 150 pages and another over 60 pages—written in Cyrillic script, with the latest entry dated August 21, 2025. The attacker’s magazines also referenced the names of previous school shooters.
US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the videos’ authenticity, stating, “This deeply disturbed killer wrote horrific messages like ‘For the Children,’ ‘Where is Your God?’ and ‘Kill Donald Trump’ on the weapon magazines.”
In response, President Donald Trump declared a national day of mourning and ordered flags to be flown at half-mast. “This violence is unimaginable. Those who target children with gunfire are enemies of humanity,” he said.
Authorities noted that this incident marks the 146th school shooting in the United States in 2025.
