Notorious Robber Leader Mamun Arrested in Sonargaon

Narayanganj, August 20, 2025 – A team from Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-11 arrested Mamun (25), a notorious robber leader wanted in multiple robbery and snatch-and-grab cases, in Sonargaon, Narayanganj. The arrest was made during an operation on Tuesday night, after which Mamun was handed over to the Sonargaon Police Station.

Mamun, a resident of Jhauchar village in Pirojpur Union of Sonargaon Upazila, was confirmed to be apprehended by Sonargaon Police Station’s Second Officer, Sub-Inspector Samrul Islam.

According to police, Mamun had been carrying out robberies on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at night for a long time. He specifically targeted passengers traveling abroad, creating artificial traffic jams to stop vehicles, threatening passengers with local weapons, breaking car windows, and looting cash, mobile phones, and other valuables. Mamun has three robbery cases, one murder case, and one drug-related case pending against him in various police stations in Narayanganj and Munshiganj districts.

Sonargaon Police Station’s Inspector (Investigation) Rashedul Hasan Khan stated that Mamun is implicated in multiple robbery cases. Following his arrest, he was sent to court on Tuesday afternoon.
