Dhaka, August 11, 2025 – Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury announced that separate voting booths will be set up for young voters in every polling station to boost their participation and engagement in the upcoming national election. “There will be separate booths for young male and female voters, in addition to the existing separate booths for men and women,” he said.
The statement was made on Monday morning after inspecting the Teghoria High School (No. 3) polling station in South Keraniganj, part of the Dhaka-3 parliamentary constituency.
Discussing election preparations, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, “The Home Ministry has been preparing for the election well in advance. We have already instructed various law enforcement agencies tasked with election duties to undergo training. Body-worn cameras will be deployed at every polling station to ensure the election process is monitored transparently at both the district and central levels.”
He emphasized that the interim government is taking all necessary steps to ensure the election is conducted in a festive and orderly atmosphere. “Our police, BGB, and prison guards already have some body-worn cameras,” he added.
Regarding the upcoming national election, the Home Affairs Adviser revealed that a decision has been made to procure an additional 40,000 body-worn cameras for law enforcement agencies.
Responding to a journalist’s question about certain groups occupying bus and tempo stands for extortion, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated, “No form of extortion will be tolerated. Many extortionists have already been brought to justice, and we will ensure that no one involved in such activities is spared in the future.”
