The President of the Bangladesh Human Rights Implementation Organization, Gurudaspur Branch, Advocate Rashidul Islam, has condemned the incident.
In a shocking incident at Gurudaspur Upazila Health Complex in Natore, a son named Shafin (17) and his accomplices attacked and injured his father, Sojrul Mridha (45), who was admitted to the hospital. Not only that, Shafin tied his ailing father with a rope in a dramatic, cinematic fashion and abducted him from the hospital in front of everyone.
Sojrul, a resident of Khalifapara in the municipal area, is reportedly mentally unstable. On Monday (August 4) morning, he was admitted to the Upazila Health Complex after being physically assaulted. Just two hours after his admission, he was attacked again inside the hospital and abducted after being tied with a rope. A video of the assault and abduction has been preserved by local journalists.
In the video, Shafin can be heard saying that the day before the incident, his father had attempted to kill him by strangling him with a chain.
So far, no legal action has been taken regarding the attack and abduction of a patient from the Upazila Health Complex, raising concerns among many about the safety of admitted patients.
Advocate Rashidul Islam, President of the Bangladesh Human Rights Implementation Organization, Gurudaspur Branch, has strongly condemned the incident.
Dr. ASM Almas, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, stated, “Preparations are underway to take legal action regarding this matter.”
