Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman GM Quader has stated that the current government is incapable of conducting free, fair, and neutral elections. He emphasized that a credible election could resolve the ongoing situation, but the government is not moving in that direction. He claimed an invisible force is preventing many advisers from functioning effectively.
Speaking at an emergency meeting of the party’s presidium members at the Jatiya Party’s central office in Kakrail on Wednesday afternoon, GM Quader chaired the session.
Highlighting the country’s uncertain trajectory, GM Quader said, “There was an expectation that this government would deliver a good election. However, we see a government within the government. An invisible shadow is hindering many advisers from performing their duties properly.”
He further stated that the government has failed to create a conducive environment for elections. The administration remains fearful of lawsuits, while the judiciary, administration, and police are demoralized, lacking the necessary confidence to conduct a fair election.
Accusing the government of appointing favored individuals based on partisan motives, Quader remarked that it has lost its neutrality. He noted that people are living in fear, with no security for their lives and property. The income of ordinary workers is declining, investment is absent, economic growth is at its lowest, unemployment is rising, and law and order continue to deteriorate. He reiterated that a fair election could address the current crisis, but the government is not pursuing that path.
The meeting, conducted by Jatiya Party General Secretary Shamim Haider Patwary, saw participation from Co-Chairman Mostafizur Rahman, Presidium Members Mir Abdus Sabur, Saifuddin Ahmed, Abdur Rashid Sarkar, Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan, Alamgir Sikdar, Emran Hossain Mia, Sherifa Quader, AKM Mostafizur Rahman, Monirul Islam, HM Shahriar Asif, Md. Ashrafuzzaman, Iqbal Hossain, Mohsin Islam, Md. Mamtaj Uddin, Md. Abu Taher, Moinur Rabbi Chowdhury, Ajmal Hossain, and Nurun Nahar Begum.
