Five top NCP leaders staying in Cox’s Bazar have left their hotel
Five senior leaders of the National Citizen’s Party (NCP) are preparing to leave Cox’s Bazar. On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, around 1:30 PM, they departed from Hotel Sea Pearl in a white VIP vehicle.
According to reliable sources, the NCP leaders had lunch at Shalika Restaurant in Kalatali, Cox’s Bazar, before moving to Hotel Prasada Paradise near the beach by 3:30 PM. It remains unclear whether they will leave Cox’s Bazar by road or air.
The sudden arrival of the five NCP leaders on Tuesday, August 5, sparked various rumors, including speculation about a meeting with former US Ambassador Peter Haas. However, hotel authorities and law enforcement sources have dismissed these claims as untrue.
A Cox’s Bazar district police officer confirmed that the NCP leaders arrived on a Bangladesh Airlines flight at 11:25 AM on Tuesday. They stayed at rooms 5001, 5002, and 5003 of the Sea Pearl Beach Resort (Royal Tulip) in Inani. The officer noted that the group, which included Hasnat Abdullah, Sarjis Alam, Dr. Tasmin Zara, Nasiruddin Patowari, and Khaled Saifullah, exited through the general passenger gate instead of using the VIP lounge. Sources also mentioned that Sarjis Alam’s wife accompanied the group.
The driver of the vehicle, Nurul Amin, stated that he transported Hasnat Abdullah, Sarjis Alam, Nasiruddin Patowari, and two women (Sarjis Alam’s wife and coordinator Tasnim Zara) to Hotel Sea Pearl. The vehicle was not pre-booked; the group hired it upon arrival at the airport.
Local residents reported that law enforcement personnel were present around the Sea Pearl Beach Resort (Royal Tulip) in Inani since Tuesday. However, they left the area after 1:30 PM on Wednesday.
An airport official on duty at Cox’s Bazar Airport, speaking anonymously, confirmed that there were no bookings under the names of the five NCP leaders as of 1:30 PM on Wednesday. Another source suggested the leaders might travel by road to Matarbari in Moheshkhali.
Meanwhile, due to their unannounced visit to Cox’s Bazar on the occasion of the Mass Uprising Day, the five NCP leaders—Hasnat, Sarjis, and others—have been issued a show-cause notice. Saleh Uddin Sifat, Joint Member Secretary (Office) of NCP, sent a notice requesting the leaders to appear in person within 24 hours before Convener Md. Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain to provide a written explanation.
