Father Killed by Drug-Addicted Son in Banshkhali

Chattogram, August 5, 2025: A man named Dulal Rudra (50) was killed by his drug-addicted son in Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram on Tuesday evening. The incident took place in Rudrapara village, Purba Chambal, under Chambal Union.

The accused, Tapan Rudra (22), was detained by locals and handed over to the police. Dulal Rudra was a farmer by profession.

According to locals, Tapan Rudra, a drug addict, previously worked at a local salon but quit due to his addiction. He frequently demanded money from his father. On Tuesday evening, when Dulal refused to give him money to buy drugs, an enraged Tapan attacked his father with a machete. Locals rescued Dulal in critical condition and took him to Banshkhali Upazila Health Complex. He was later referred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries around 10:30 PM.

Banshkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Saiful Islam confirmed that Tapan was detained by locals and handed over to the police. Legal action is being taken against him, and the victim’s body has been sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
