Two ACC Deputy Directors Suspended

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has temporarily suspended two of its deputy directors on charges of negligence of duty and abuse of power. The suspended officials are Md. Ahsanul Kabir Palash and Kamlesh Mondal, both from the ACC’s head office. A source from the ACC confirmed the matter to Kalbela on Wednesday (August 20).

Md. Ahsanul Kabir Palash was accused of abusing his authority and preparing forged documents to facilitate the approval of a plan for Rupayan Housing Estate Limited. The ACC took action against him for failing to submit an investigation report on time. According to an order signed by ACC Chairman Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen, Palash was appointed as the investigating officer in November 2023 but neither submitted a report nor requested an extension of time. Consequently, the ACC decided to take departmental action against him under the Anti-Corruption Commission (Employee) Service Regulations, 2008. On July 16, during a commission meeting, it was decided to suspend him under Rule 43(1). During the suspension period, he will receive subsistence allowance as per existing rules. The order is effective from August 6.

In a separate order signed by ACC Chairman Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen, Kamlesh Mondal was appointed to investigate allegations of corruption involving the Project Director and Additional Chief Engineer of WASA’s Water Supply Network Improvement Project, Akhtaruzzaman, and others, related to manpower recruitment and collusion with contractors. Mondal failed to submit the investigation report by the stipulated deadline and did not request an extension. Considering the gravity of the allegations and public interest, he was suspended under the Anti-Corruption Commission (Employee) Service Regulations, 2008, for inefficiency, negligence of duty, and misconduct.
