Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman Congratulates DUCSU Election Winners

Dhaka, September 10, 2025 – Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, issued a statement on Wednesday congratulating the winners of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall union elections held on September 9, 2025. The statement was released by the party’s publicity department.

In his statement, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “On Tuesday, September 9, the DUCSU election was held at the country’s premier educational institution, Dhaka University. The students participated in a peaceful and festive atmosphere, and the candidates made the election competitive by actively contesting.”

He added, “I extend my heartfelt thanks to all those elected in this election. I hope they will rise above their party affiliations and fulfill their responsibilities as representatives of the student community.”

Dr. Rahman also praised the interim government, university authorities, law enforcement agencies, journalists, and others involved for conducting the election in a free, fair, credible, and peaceful manner during a critical time for the nation. Additionally, he expressed condolences for the death of Channel S journalist Tariqul Islam Shibli, who passed away while covering the DUCSU election, praying for his soul’s salvation and extending sympathy to his family.
The election saw a landslide victory for the Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir-led United Students’ Alliance, with Md Abu Shadik Kayem elected as Vice President, SM Farhad as General Secretary, and Md Mohiuddin Khan as Assistant General Secretary.
