In Patuakhali, the district unit of Gana Adhikar Parishad staged a protest and blocked the Dhaka-Kuakata highway, demanding the resignation of the Home Affairs Advisor and condemning the attack on VP Nurul Haque Nur.On Wednesday (September 3) night, a protest march began from the Gana Adhikar Parishad office in Natunbazar, Patuakhali town. The procession marched through key streets of the town and concluded at the Chourasta area. Following this, party activists blocked the Dhaka-Kuakata highway near the Chourasta Traffic Box. The hour-long blockade caused a traffic jam stretching at least one kilometer on the highway.
After the blockade, a protest rally was held at the site. Speakers included Shah-Alam Sikdar, Member Secretary of the district Gana Adhikar Parishad, Joint Convener M. Sohel Rana, and Joint Convener Mashiur Rahman Saddam Mridha.
Present at the event were Joint Convener Urmi Akter, Member Secretary Shilpi Rana, President of the Youth Adhikar Parishad Saiful Islam Rumman, General Secretary Abdur Rahman, President of the Labor Adhikar Parishad Faruk Hawladar, General Secretary Riaz Hawladar, Central Vice-President of the Student Adhikar Parishad Abu Naim, and district Student Adhikar Parishad President Mohsin Islam, along with leaders from affiliated organizations.
Patuakhali Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Imtiaz Ahmed said, “The protest caused a temporary disruption to traffic on the highway. However, traffic has now resumed normally, and the situation remains peaceful.”
