Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus Attends Photo Session After Meeting with Leaders of Seven Political Parties and Hefazat-e-Islam
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has warned that obstacles will arise in the path of holding the national election targeted for the first half of February. Speaking at a meeting with leaders of seven political parties and Hefazat-e-Islam on Tuesday evening at the state guest house Jamuna, he said, “Those who do not want the interim government to reach the election will create obstacles in every possible way. They will try to hinder the development of Bangladesh’s essence and make every effort to derail the election. They will attempt to create a situation where the election cannot take place.”
Noting that some signs of such disruptions are already visible, the Chief Adviser added, “More will come in the future. We need to be more vigilant.”
The remarks were made during a meeting with leaders of seven political parties and Hefazat-e-Islam at the state guest house Jamuna on Tuesday afternoon. Following the meeting, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam briefed journalists on the discussions.
Professor Yunus stated, “The election will be held in the first half of February, and we will hand over power to the elected government.” He described the election as an opportunity for the nation to stand on its own feet and gain courage, adding, “This is an election to run the country on our own soil, ensuring no foreign interference.”
During the meeting, the Chief Adviser emphasized that the election should be conducted in a joyful and festive atmosphere. “For those who have never voted before, this election should provide a positive experience. Those who faced bitter experiences while voting in the past should also have a good experience this time. No one should feel they were denied the right to vote,” he said.
Warning political party leaders about challenges, he noted that obstacles would arise at every step. “They will try to create doubts in everyone’s minds. We must stay firm and united, cooperating with each other,” he urged.
Expressing optimism, Professor Yunus said, “This will be a unique election. It is not just the interim government’s election; it is the election of all the people and all political parties of this country. We seek your full support in organizing this election.”
The Chief Adviser also called for ensuring a peaceful environment during the upcoming Durga Puja, as conveyed by Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.
Among the advisers present at the meeting were Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud, Education Adviser C.R. Abrar, Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, and Industry Adviser Adilur Rahman.
