Our duty is to work, and your duty is to ask questions.” With this statement, Abu Sadik Kayem, the newly elected Vice President (VP) of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), posted a photo on his verified Facebook page. The photo was shared on Wednesday (September 10) night.
The image, featuring Sadik Kayem alongside the newly elected DUCSU General Secretary (GS) SM Farhad and Assistant General Secretary (AGS) Md. Mahiuddin Khan, quickly went viral on social media platform Facebook. Many users expressed their support, leaving various comments, prayers, and words of encouragement in the comment section.
Amjad Hossain Hridoy wrote, “Congratulations to you all. This achievement in DUCSU will remain at the top in the past, present, and future. I hope you will work for the welfare of the students and collaborate with your rival candidates.”
Makame Mahmud commented, “I hope the students of Dhaka University will always find their elected VP by their side in any justified cause. Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to you all.”
Mobarak Hossain added, “I will keep questioning and criticizing from the moment you take responsibility. There’s no peace for you. I’m keeping your manifesto safe, and I’ll hold you accountable, especially the Shibir leaders.”
Rayhan Sobuj expressed, “I hope you can uphold this trust of the nation.”
Earlier, on Tuesday (September 9), voting for the 38th DUCSU election took place from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM without any breaks. The official results were announced on Wednesday morning. Candidates supported by the Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed United Students’ Alliance won 23 out of the 28 posts in the election.
