- The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has recently announced an increase in gas prices for new industries. The price for industrial boiler usage has been raised from 30 to 40 BDT per cubic meter, while captive power prices have been adjusted from 31.75 to 42 BDT per cubic meter. While prices for existing industries remain unchanged, industrial units exceeding their approved gas load will now have to pay at the revised rates.
- On April 13, BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed formally announced the new pricing at a press conference, accompanied by commission members Mizanur Rahman, Syeda Sultana Razia, Abdur Razzak, and Shahid Sarwar.
- Discussions were also held regarding transparency and accountability in government institutions. Meanwhile, Petrobangla had proposed raising gas prices for new industrial and captive usage to 75.72 BDT per cubic meter, but the commission did not implement that proposal.
