Dhaka, May 15, 2025: The Advisory Council has granted both preliminary and final approval to the draft of the ‘July Uprising Victims’ Families and Injured Persons Welfare and Rehabilitation Ordinance, 2025,’ aimed at supporting the families of those killed and the students and public injured during the July uprising. Alongside this, the amended draft ordinance of the National Freedom Fighters’ Council (JAMUKA) also received final approval.
The decisions were made during a meeting of the Advisory Council held on Thursday (May 15), chaired by the Chief Adviser. A press release from the Chief Adviser’s Cabinet Division confirmed the developments.
According to the release, a five-member advisory committee has been formed to review and restructure the draft ordinance comprehensively. The committee comprises Adilur Rahman Khan (Housing and Public Works Adviser), Fouzul Kabir Khan (Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Adviser), Asif Mahmud (Local Government Adviser), Nurjahan Begum (Health Adviser), and Farida Akhter (Fisheries Adviser). The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs will provide secretarial support to the committee.
In addition to these ordinances, the meeting also approved drafts of several policies, including the ‘Dredging and Dredged Material Management Policy-2024,’ the ‘Locally Led Adaptation Framework,’ and the ‘National Gene Bank Management Policy-2024.’ These policies are expected to play a significant role in the management of the country’s environmental and biological resources.
